Nepali Language Training Programs

Introduction
Cultural Destination Nepal is an organization which was established to introduce language participants to Nepal's diverse geographical and cultural environment and to establish and foster an awareness and deeper understanding of cultural differences through experiential learning in Nepal. This organization offers participants a unique educational experience through its combination of intensive language instruction and hands-on environmental education. We provide qualitative and comprehensive services in the field of language and culture.
One-on-one or group Nepali classes are tailored to meet the needs of every participant- beginner, intermediate of advanced. Highly qualified instructors work with each participant at his or her own pace to develop and strengthen both conversational and written skills. There are comprehensive language courses based on " The Natural Approach" and on the preferences and the immediate needs in order to impart standard communicative Nepali language and cultural information. We believe in providing participants with ample opportunities to learn through practice and experience. We provide language skills for those people who come to Nepal as expatriates, development workers, tourists, trekkers, researchers / explorers, and volunteers.

Methodology
The approach to language learning that we are using is called "The Natural Approach to language acquisition" and was developed during the 1970's and 1980's primarily by Dr. Stephen Krashen and his associates. The natural approach identifies the difficulties in the way foreign languages are learned- the excruciating attention to detail repetitive drills, and detachment from real verbal interactions that characterize formal language teaching around the world. The Natural Approach proposes that the more the process of learning a new language resembles the way children acquire a first language, the easier and more successful the learning will be.
In this approach, we apply different techniques according to the need and preferences of the participants.
- Competency Based Curriculum (CBC)
- Structure Based Curriculum (SBC)
- Situational Reinforcement (SR)
- Community Language Learning (CLL)
- Adult Learning Cycle (AIC)
- Experiential Learning Cycle (ELC)
- Non-Formal Education (NFE)
- Total Physical Response (TPR)
- Self Directed Learning (SDL)
Our curriculum is structured on "Natural Approach". It is given according to the pace and preferred needs of language at the time. At the end of the each unit, participants are given a task to demonstrate what they have learned.
Lectures (Talk):
Cultural Destination Nepal arranges lectures on several areas of interest. Lectures will be on Religion, History of Nepal, Political situation of Nepal, Socio-economic condition of Nepal, Culture, Caste system in Nepal, Geography, Women's status in Nepal, Children in Nepal, and the diversity found within the Nepali way of life.
Homestay Arrangements:
Cultural Destination Nepal arranges homestay with traditional and semi-traditional Nepalese families. Staying with a Nepalese family provides an excellent opportunity to use ones new language skills and to learn more about Nepalese culture within a home stay situation. Learning by doing provides the best reinforcement of language and cross-cultural skills acquired in a classroom situation.
Living with a Nepalese family is a great experience. Our host families are friendly local people who are interested in overseas participants and are fun to be with. Regardless of the type of host family with which you stay, there is one thing they all have in common; a great willingness and desire to host individuals from other countries and to share their culture. Within the homestay family, you will not be a guest or a visitor but will become a new member of the family. Living with a Nepalese family will provide the opportunity to experience personal growth and will open communication channels among people from different countries and cultures.
